We share our latest updates and stories

The encouragement and support we have received from all areas of our community has been really positive and clearly endorses what we already knew – Weybridge needs a Shed in our community. We are reassured that so many people can see how much our project will help people in our local area.

We already have over 30 potential Shedders / members registered, expecting to make new friends or link up with old friends and enjoy plenty of banter and camaraderie – and we are still 6 months away from opening!

Support for our Shed has come from all areas of community, from business, to politics, to religious representatives. We are hugely appreciative of this real support and encouragement and here are some examples:

From Paul Povey, the Chairman WTBG:

“The desire to have a “Men’s Shed” in Weybridge is a great idea and has huge support from the business community… The “Men’s Shed” would provide so much support on so many levels. Belonging, Purpose and Inclusivity are vital, and this idea would make Weybridge and its community even more special.

It has the Weybridge Business Community’s full support.”

D H Arnold Chairman Weybridge Society:

“A men’s shed would become an important community asset. The Society congratulates those involved in its planning to date and wishes them every success for its future. lt encourages Elmbridge Borough Council to give the project the financial support it deserves.”

Tim Oliver Leader of Surrey County Councillor:

“I think this is a tremendous initiative and I very much hope once it is established it will become a well-used focal point in the town and a key contributor to the rebuilding of our communities. I wish you every success with your application.”

Brian Prothero, Rector, St. James’ Parish Church, Weybridge:

“In my 16 years of trying to serve the Parish of Weybridge as best I am able, I am confident that this is one of the best, if not the best idea, to have been put forward. I think it’s got a lot to do with it not being imposed from ‘above’ (and I am in no way alluding to anything Divine) but with it springing up naturally from grass roots community thinking -answering a real need and already generating so much positive enthusiasm.

And finally, who knows how many thousands if pounds it could save the NHS, if the levels of psychological or psychiatric difficulty due to the pandemic are being correctly predicted by the medical experts?"

Fr. Con Foley, Christ the Prince of Peace Parish:

“Your project can fill a void for many people and bring dignity and support to people that might be a bit vulnerable. lt could also be a great resource for people who need practical help and might not have the finances to repair necessary household devices. Wishing you every blessing with the project.”

Cllr Charu Sood:

"The entire Weybridge Conservative team is behind this worthy project and has its full support. The ‘Weybridge Men’s Shed Project’ is going to help many local residents and other local community projects.”
